The Poets Ale and Smokehouse is a modern British pub on Montgomery Street, in the lovely 'Poets corner' area of Hove.

We are open 7 days a week, serving up tasty pub food from our famous smokehouse menu as well

as traditional Sunday roasts,

We are a family and dog friendly pub that is at the heart of the local community. 

Previously known as 'The Poets Corner' we have brought the pub up-to-date whilst retaining the

ambience and old British charm of it's old self.
From the main bar area and cosy snug with fireplace around the other side to the upstairs lounge

and our lovely beer garden and front terrace,
there's plenty of space for the whole gang to come and enjoy a great time here with us at the Poets.

Live Sports Coverage

We show a fantastic range of Live Sports including coverage for Football, Rugby, Tennis,

Formula One and more which can be enjoyed on our HD TVs dotted around the main bar. Don’t worry,

we’re much more than your average “sports bar”

It’s best to think of it as a cosy British pub with great food and beers that happens to show live sports.

The Secret Garden

The Poets is also home to a beautiful beer garden perfect for enjoying a nice cold pint in the sunshine.

Complete with covered seatingand cosy heating for cooler months.

We also have booths available around the front of the pub for all you after-work sun worshippers.

Private Hire

Upstairs at the Poets, we have our own dedicated function room for private hire and parties.

We’ve hosted everything from wedding receptionsand birthday parties & leaving dos and baby showers.

We've had live music, comedy, choirs, record fairs and all sorts.
